Two talented students from Walla Walla High School, Jesse Vawter, a freshman, and Landon Kelly, a sophomore, have been selected to participate in the prestigious Western International Band Clinic (WIBC) Honor Bands. WIBC, held annually in Seattle, brings together some of the best young musicians from around the world.
Hundreds of students from the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia audition for the opportunity to perform with the honor bands, and being chosen is considered a significant achievement. Vawter and Kelly will join other high school musicians from around the world for a weekend of rehearsals and performances under the direction of renowned conductors.
“We are incredibly proud of Jesse and Landon for being selected for this prestigious event,” said Andrew Ueckert, band director at Walla Walla High School. “Their dedication, talent, and hard work are a testament to their musical abilities, and we are excited for them to represent our school on such a prominent stage.”
The Western International Band Clinic is known for its rigorous selection process and its commitment to providing a platform for outstanding young musicians to refine their skills and perform with other like-minded peers. Participation in this event is an honor that offers invaluable experience in musical performance, collaboration, and leadership.
Both students will join the honor bands in Seattle on November 22-25, where they will rehearse with other selected musicians before performing in a public concert at the conclusion of the clinic.
